Research on Food Functions Maintaining Health
The NISSIN FOODS Group has “Bi-ken Ken-shoku” (Eat wisely for beauty and health) as part of the philosophy of the founder. In 2015, the Health Science Research Division was established within the Global Innovation Center to analyze food functions based on the themes of health, nutrition, and physiological functions as well as to conduct cutting-edge research leading to delicious and innovative products.
Emphasis is especially placed on immunization research, aging care, and improving nutrition and metabolism. In fiscal 2021, the analysis results of the new anti-inflammatory effects of lactic acid bacteria were presented at the Japan Society for Bioscience, Biotechnology, and Agrochemistry. In addition, TRIPLE BARRIER—Japan’s first food with function claims that, when ingested before meals, it increases the excretion of fats, sugar, and salt taken during meals as well as suppresses the rise of neutral fats and blood sugar after meals and lowers high blood pressure—was developed. Other than the above, as an initiative to promote research on the sense of taste, the NISSIN FOOD PRODUCTS also funds an endowed chair in Taste Science at the University of Tokyo Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences.
